Welcome brothers and sisters!
We are ever so thankful to be able to share all we do with you, worship the Lord our God together, pray, love and serve...all together. God has set us apart for Himself, which brings so much joy to our lives and gives us an eternal hope in Jesus Christ.
Saturday night was our last night at the location we have been at for several years now, and the memories are a treasure. As we move forward in our location we hope to continue meeting together, sharing a meal together, and serving the Lord together. Pastor Scott continued into 1st Thessalonians 4:1-8, faithfully expositing what it looks like to live a life of sanctification, brotherly love and purity. We encourage you to watch, share and invite others to join us, always remember to check all things according to the scriptures as well. We encourage you to share the Gospel whenever an opportunity arises, for none of us know when our last moment will come, and we ought to delight in the Lord now and forevermore. Below is review from our passage on Saturday night :
How to Live a Holy Life
In this passage, Paul teaches us how to live a life that pleases God and honors Him. He focuses on two main aspects of our Christian walk: sexual purity and brotherly love.
Sexual Purity
Paul tells us that God's will for us is to be sanctified, which means to be set apart for His purposes and to reflect His character. One of the ways that we do this is by avoiding sexual immorality, which is any sexual activity outside of the marriage covenant between a man and a woman. Paul warns us that sexual immorality is not only a sin against God, but also a sin against our fellow believers, whom we are called to love and respect. He also reminds us that God is the one who gives us His Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live a holy life and to resist temptation.
Sexual purity is not only a matter of obedience, but also a matter of worship. When we honor God with our bodies, we are expressing our love and gratitude to Him for creating us and redeeming us. We are also demonstrating our trust and loyalty to Him, as we submit to His authority and design for our lives.
Brotherly Love
Paul commends the Thessalonians for their love for one another, which is a sign of their genuine faith and a fruit of the Spirit. He encourages them to continue to love each other more and more, and to show it in practical ways. He also advises them to lead a quiet life, which means to live peacefully and respectfully with others, without causing trouble or being a burden. He urges them to mind their own business, which means to avoid meddling or gossiping, and to work with their hands, which means to be diligent and productive, and to provide for their own needs and the needs of others.
Brotherly love is not only a matter of affection, but also a matter of action. When we love one another, we are following the example and command of Jesus, who said: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35) We are also showing the world the reality and beauty of the gospel, as we display the unity and diversity of the body of Christ.
We hope to see you next week at our new location, 711 Parks Highway right here in Wasilla, AK at the same time. Until we meet again, lets go serve our King!
