The Fear of the Lord

FRF Web • March 1, 2024

This is the beginning of all wisdom!

Welcome Brothers and Sisters!

Today is a wonderful day to remember the Lord and all that He has done, let us live in awe of who He is!

We want to share with you today the sermon from last week, as we changed things up a bit.  Pastor Scott took us through a topic that is of such great importance, "The Fear of the Lord", and delved into just a few of the areas that really explore what this means.  We invite you today to watch, share, and of course check everything according to the scriptures that you may also live life with the "Fear of the Lord".  We oft forget just how great He is, and the magnificent work He has done to save us from our sins...brothers and sisters this shouldn't be!  Please join us today and come and worship along with us each week starting at 7pm on Saturdays for Worship, fellowship and a meal afterward.  Below is a rundown of just some of what Pastor Scott covered, though we know just how much deeper this topic can be.

The “fear of the Lord” is not about dread or terror. Instead, it encompasses reverence, awe, and deep respect toward God. Here are key insights:

Two Aspects of Fear:

God’s Nature: The fear of the Lord refers to the awe-inspiring and formidable nature of God. It encompasses His immense power, not only His wrath but also His creative might, incredible love and mercy that leaves us in awe. God is the Creator of the heavens, the earth, and everything within them (Genesis 1). His abilities are beyond our comprehension.

Our Relationship: The fear of the Lord also relates to our human perspective. It’s the reverence and respect we have for God as our heavenly Father. We recognize His authority over our lives and acknowledge His holiness, His Sovereign reign, and encompassing love we can witness in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Living Out the Fear of the Lord:

Recognize God’s authority over your life.

Obey His Word willingly.

Avoid deliberately tempting Him through disobedience or sin.

Cherish His love, forgiveness, and grace.

In summary, the fear of the Lord is a beautiful blend of reverence, awe, and love. It leads us to seek wisdom, understanding, and a life pleasing to our heavenly Father. May we embrace this fear and grow in our relationship with the Almighty!

Until we meet again, lets go serve our King!
